Tearlach,

I know... I was more just saying that, to me, a lot of children's nursery rhymes, even without being done all spooky like, are still really creepy.

You know what else really creeps me out? Real, porcelin dolls... I don't know what it is about those things... in the daytime, they look all pretty and really cool... and at night, I swear those things watch me... just waiting for me to go to bed, so they can suffocate me.

Geeze did I hate my mom's collection of porcelin dolls...*shivers*

It's one of the reasons I really hate the whole clown scene from poltergeist.

My apologies, but do you not think that most children's games and rhymes are violent and cruel? Humpty-dumpty, Hanzel and Gretal and of course what time is it Mr Wolf?

If those dolls creep you out, have you ever seen the part in the film Barbarella where Jane Fonda is attacked by several of these dolls biting her with shark like teeth? Brurrr.
As to the clown doll i have a really creepy story and a true one too.
I work in a Wallmart, which like a mall has several independent shops inside it. When the store first opened several of the shop units had still to be rented out and were completely bare, concrete floor and wires hanging from the roof of the main building so that a false ceiling or first story storage area could be fitted. The first Christmas the store was open was hetic and one of the empty shop units was used to store the vast amount of toys that was expected to sell, including clown dolls exactly like the one in the Poltergeist film. I walked in to this shop one night to collect some stock and there twenty feet up in the air was a clown doll hanging by its neck from one of the wires in the roof. I can tell you now I ran for the hills. We never found out who or how they did it. Twisted Evil

[quote="Ashton Gray Speaking of creepy nursery ryhmes, my favorite is "Twiddle dee dum and twiddle dee dee, the old gray lady is after me. She wants my shoes, she wants my skin, there's no such size she can't fit in." The old gray lady being refered to is also known as the Hag, a mythical creature which stalked the night and killed whoever it came across and took their form by wearing their skin.[/quote]

The phenomenon of feeling that you are being strangled while asleep/semi-awake is known as "riding the hag" for this reason.

Again this is a true story. I woke up one night and realised that my leg was being "Gripped" around my ankle. At first I thought is was cramp, but then noticed I could feel that it was a hand. I move my hand out towards the bed side light. The hand released my ankle and grabbed me just below the knee. I did not bother with the light, instead I sat upright and swung my fist at where I thought my assailent to be. The hand let go and I switched on the light, no one was there. I made a though search of the house, no one, all the doors and windows locked. Who or what it was never came back since in the house. But when I was staying in a hotel.. Twisted Evil

First I have to say that my favorite mythical creature is the Dragon. Especially the dragons as they are in ADD. The mightiest of them all.

wow Ashton the hag is a bad one did not think any one would bring her up here and as for her what about the sirens, and Medusa...

Speaking of Medusa dont forget her two sisters Stheno and Euryale. Interesting fact if anyone didnt know: Medusa is the mother of Pegasus. Pegasus was born when Medusas blood was mixed with oceanfoam.
