"A whiter shade of pale" is the title of an evergreen popsong, rather old, from Procol Harum.
I never knew what it meant, my English teacher neither knew.
Maybe it was poetry.

I think I solved the riddle by now.

For those who don't know the song:

We skipped the light fandango

IMHO the secret to writing a pop song is to make it so obscure that people will read whatever they want into it, or even assume that because it's so hard to understand it must be poetry

That's weird. I just heard the Annie Lennox version of Whiter Shade of Pale recently.

And I remember butchering this song many a time during organ lessons when I was still little
