Hey everyone. Just recently this idea came to mind sort of a “What if? “Scenario involving Mary and Betty. This time the scenario is a simple role-reversal were Mary is the princess of the Delight Castle and Betty is the sexually frustrated virgin daughter of the Ex-Mayor of Bon Bon. This idea was really interesting to me not only because these two are some of my personal favorites from the comic, but also because it really makes you think about how some of if not all of the certain moments in the entire story would play out.

Right off the bat there would be so many things that would play out differently. Like Red would originally fall in love with Mary but he would be engaged to Betty (because their roles would be reversed.) Mary would be bisexual while Betty would be heterosexual, just so many things would change if this scenario took place. What do you guys think? How would this role reversal change some of the major plot points in PBB and which points would it alter the most?

A major plot point is that Red is engaged to Mary, but he really wants Betty. This is against his father's wish, and interspecies marriages are frowned upon in the world of PBB. So I don't see that kind of role reversal working.

I think it's more interesting to consider the effects of a Red and William switching places in the story
